How to make it without an ice cream maker

If you don’t have an ice cream machine simply whisk together all the ingredients except the cookies and add straight to the freezer. As it begins to harden, remove and beat until smooth. Then return to the freezer until hard. You can remove and whip the ice cream twice or even three times if you have the time. This will help incorporate more air into the ice cream.

The mixture is ready to churn into ice cream.

As your ice cream gets close to the end of churning, toss in the cookies. If you add them too early they’ll crumble and break up resulting in an ice cream that doesn’t look to crash hot. So add them in the final minute of churning.

Expert tip: Freeze your cookies before adding to the ice cream. Room temperature add-ins will slightly melt the ice cream resulting in larger ice crystals in the end product.
