Dog Ice Cream

Ice cream is such a fantastic invention. It seems unfair that our loyal, furry friends should miss out. It’s tempting to feed our dogs the ice cream we buy for ourselves but those products contain ingredients that aren’t great for your dog’s health.

Sugar is found in big doses through most ice cream brands which is bad for your dog. It rots their teeth and adds unwanted weight. There are also flavours like vanilla and added chocolate which your dog should not eat.

The solution is to make your own dog ice cream. It doesn’t take long either.

Flavour 1: Banana Berry Ice Cream

Ingredients

  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1 cup strawberries
  • 2 cups plain yoghurt

Method

  1. Mash the banana and strawberries in a bowl.
  2. Stir in the yoghurt.
  3. Freeze for 2 hours until hardened.

Flavour 2: Choc Banana Ice Cream

Ingredients

  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1/3 cup carob choc chips
  • 1 Tbsp honey
  • 2 cups plain yoghurt

Method

  1. Mash banana in a bowl.
  2. Stir in remaining ingredients until well combined.
  3. Freeze for 2 hours until hardened.

Flavour 3: Nice Cream

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe bananas
  • 2 Tbsp honey

Method

  1. Cut bananas into pieces and freeze until hard.
  2. Add banana pieces and honey to a blender and process until the texture resembles ice cream.
  3. Add the nice cream to the freezer for another hour if you want it a little harder.
