Zabaglione Dessert Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup sweet wine

Instructions

  • Whisk yolks and sugar in a heatproof bowl until light and thickened.
  • Place bowl over a simmering saucepan of water (bain marie) and whisk constantly. You can manually whisk or use an electric beater.
  • Continue whisking until you can lift the whisk out and it takes around 8 seconds for the peak to flatten again. Remove from heat and continue whisking for another five minutes.
  • Serve in a glass or bowl with your favourite topping or eat on its own.

Notes

You can use any sweet wine or spirit of your choice with this recipe. Marsala is a popular choice but other good options are rum, brandy or a Moscato wine.
